A Few Times You Should Forget About Doing It Yourself And Call A Plumber

Tammy Terry

At some point, you are going to have to deal with a plumbing problem. There are some common issues that you can handle yourself, such as a leaky faucet or a simple clog in the sink. There are more things you can attempt on your own, but you should be ready to call a plumber if things end up beyond your capabilities. There are also situations when you should not try anything yourself other than to turn the water off and wait for a professional. Here are a few times when you need to forget about trying anything yourself and just call the plumber.

Gurgling When the Water Is Not Running

If you and your family are sitting in the living room enjoying some quality time and suddenly hear some gurgling coming from the bathroom, one of you should go shut off the water to that room, and another should look up the number for the plumber. Gurgling means the water and/or sewage is stuck and trying to find an escape through the pipes. If left alone, you will end up with sewage backing up into your bathtub, shower stall, and possibly the washing machine. This type of problem is not a simple clog you should attempt to remove yourself.

Frozen Pipes

When your pipes are not deep enough under the ground or insulated, the water in them can freeze during the winter. While it is possible to use a hair dryer or some other form of heat to thaw them out so you have running water in the house again, it is best to contact a plumber to come out and supervise the defrosting. Sometimes, there will be a burst pipe that is not noticed until the water starts to flow again. Having a professional there will save you from having water spewing all over the place. They will know the signs of a problem and be able to swap out the broken piece for a new one before the ice is thawed.

Bad Odor

It is possible for a sewer pipe to break under the house without you noticing anything until there is an obnoxious odor coming from your sink. By the time you notice the stench, the problem is too big for you to handle yourself. You should call a professional right away to come make the necessary repairs.

Do not overestimate your plumbing abilities. If you are not sure of what is happening and how to fix it, call professional plumbing repair services. Too often a person tries to fix something only to end up causing more damage. Save yourself the time and money on a more expensive repair and get a plumber to do the repair for you.

Talking About Air Filtration Systems

Hey everyone, I am Mort Nicholas. Since I have allergies to pollen, dust and chemicals, I must filter the air blowing through my home day and night. The air filtration systems hook straight to the furnace and air conditioner to provide my home with fresh air at all times. The filters used for these systems capture the tiniest of particles to keep them out of my airways. As a result, I often wake up feeling healthy and refreshed. I hope to share the benefits of having filtered air flowing through your home. I will discuss symptoms caused by contaminated air. In addition, I will share information about air filtration maintenance services provided by HVAC contractors.
